Automation arrived at Weston Branch in the early 1990s with the introduction of an online catalogue. Customers could “dial in” to access York Public Library's catalogue from personal computers, 24/7.

Weston Branch became part of Toronto Public Library with municipal amalgamation on January 1, 1998. Seven municipalities in Metropolitan Toronto became one City of Toronto, and seven library boards, including York, were united into one library called Toronto Public Library.
